I don't get that metaphor, as I don't know what Calibula is, but I assume you disagree with my assessment??? To clarify, I wasn't comparing the WWII monument to a Soviet monument; I've never seen any Soviet monuments. I was comparing it to a Soviet-style military review, of which the WWII is very reminiscent. By that I mean that the pillars and Eagles and all the other embellishments seem to be about might, strength and triumph rather than sacrifice. You may disagree, or you may agree but disagree that its inappropriate to memorialize those attributes of the war. I'm certainly glad and proud that the Allies won WWII, but I don't want to be a cheerleader for the worst human tragedy in history. That's what I feel like that memorial is. I think it lacks humility for the most part.
