Good luck with your art, I think it is a brave decision to switch from business to art. That said, having a knowledge of business could only help you manage the business aspect of your art. Also, welcome to Hubski!ar experience with me, discard a pursuit in Business for Arts, he made it clear that parents do have gap with their children , generations like my parents would insist that one should first do ought-to-do rather than like-to-do.
This seems to be a generational gap the world over and I'm guessing its been around for a very long time. As you get older you start to realize the pressures of life, in a way that a younger person cannot. House payments, college tuition for your children, cost of living etc. This is why the parents generation strives for their children to have a more practical education that can lead to better resources for them. I think that some of the bravest people that I know are those that chose to study the arts instead of a safer path. That said those same people often wrestle with whether or not they made the best decision. It's a tough choice because sometimes the art that you study and make your primary focus is something that you could have as a hobby instead of a career. It's not the same though, a hobby isn't as fulfilling as a full-time pursuit and often the art suffers if its not your primary pursuit.
