It's not really GFP (green fluorescent protein), that they are interested in. They just wanted to create a stable transgenic dog, and they used GFP as a demonstration.

I accidentally clicked the video link. People watch that? I think it killed some of my brain cells.

The video won't stream outside of the U.S., so I couldn't see it (what's up with that, anyway? Oftentimes I can't watch videos because they are reserved presumably for the American intellectual elite.)

I think messing with transgenics is a wonderful thing ... yeah, maybe not for making pets with strange powers, but for the other medical marvels that will surely come. (see also NotPhil post: http://www.genpets.com/index.php)

Don't feel left out. It starts with a dumb guy radio voice jingle about glowing dogs, then asks some actor as he steps into a bus if he would like a glowing dog. He says he'd prefer a normal rottweiler. The radio voice guy says if they added glowing, it would be "rott-wilder". At the end they have some office people make some witty replies, and then say 'it's for cancer'. I kid you not.

It's painful what people will watch.

So missing it was okay? Hulu doesn't stream outside the US.

I thought the picture of the other dog, and the caption, were hilarious.

Missing it was a blessing.
