In honor of the trailer for Ghost in the Shell featuring a soulless cover of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode, I've been listening to a great electro-industrial tribute album I found awhile ago. That's led to me wandering through some older industrial of my high school and early college days. Assume these all to be wildly NSFW, and should be listened to as loud as possible. 16 Volt was one of the openers the first time I saw KMFDM. The sound went out for the lead singer, who gave zero fucks and just started screaming the lyrics at us. This was my "drive too fast" album. I met my first real girlfriend at a show where MSI was opening for System of a Down. Small club in Columbus, Ohio in early 2001.
My introduction to Atari Teenage Riot was "Sick to Death", and I still haven't heard anything from them remotely as fantastic as that: But then again, maybe it was the initial shock of my first exposure to them. Dunno. But this song still makes me wanna go all Office Space on a strip mall.
They basically all do that to me! Their newer album ("Is This Hyperreal?") is excellent.
Don't know if you ever saw this, posted to Youtube ten years ago but has since been removed. But hey metacafe is a shithole that never removes stuff so... yay?
That's pretty cool. For something far sillier, see the version they did in simlish.
I think of rivethead being more of a metal fan than I am. I like some, but usually the less-traditionally metal (Killing Joke, for example). I mean, sometimes I'll break out Demanufacture at high volume or whatever, but that's not typically what I listen to.
