The White House • July 17, 2018 The Day Ahead President Donald J. Trump will meet with members of Congress to discuss options for further tax reform to help working Americans. Bold American diplomacy in Finland When President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday, he continued a proud American tradition on the world stage. “From the earliest days of our republic, American leaders have understood that diplomacy and engagement is preferable to conflict and hostility,” the President said. America has no illusions when it comes to Russia. President Trump directly addressed the issue of Russian interference in U.S. elections with President Putin, and the Trump Administration has implemented a range of tough sanctions on Russian individuals and entities. “The disagreements between our two countries are well known,” President Trump said. “But if we're going to solve many of the problems facing our world, then we're going to have to find ways to cooperate.” The bottom line: Americans want peace, not conflict. “Nothing would be easier politically than to refuse to meet, to refuse to engage, but that would not accomplish anything. As president, I cannot make decisions on foreign policy in a futile effort to appease partisan critics,” President Trump said. “As the world’s two largest nuclear powers, we must get along!” President Trump tweeted. Seriously. y'all are missin' out if you aren't on Trump's email list.
Errrrrr just a quick update. Things are fine! Trump merely misspoke yesterday WARNING: autoplay w/ volume. In another clip, the lights go out after he asserts his trust in the intelligence community. Easily Google-able and hilarious. As for the two hour private sesh between Trump and Putin, I suppose we're pitting the translator's/translators' commitment to confidentiality and their personal loyalties to Trump/Putin against the severity or significance of what was discussed. The democrats are calling for the American translator to testify under oath. So just to reiterate (which is not a tactic used to desensitize folks to the absurdity of a lie), things are A-OK.
This is a very complex deception. On the surface it seems like Trump is saying there was no Russian involvement and he's dismissing all accusations out of hand. Which seems fucking retarded. At this point it's dangerous to predicate an argument on speculation about Trump's intelligence. He's not a complete moron. Parts of the Left want to dismiss him on grounds of stupidity. So it seems when you look at Twitter and Facebook. Whatever. His intelligence is unknowable. His specific motives are unknowable for now. What's clear is his affinity for speaking favorably of Putin and engaging him. Also engaging North Korea. Don't know those two things are related Something is obviously going on. What exactly? That's unclear. He seems to be saying that Russian involvement in this shit show is the responsibility of independent hostile actors inside Russia. And that's not how the government there works. Any geopolitical action sourced from Russia is going to have, bare minimum, some KGB influence. I'm straining to speculate further because the implications that we can guess at now with available information lead to all sorts of easily imagined scenarios. We know his history and can guess that he's just fundamentally an insecure, narcissistic crazy person after 70 some years of protecting the wounded ego of a spoiled child. His motives since he launched his campaign are the hard thing to tease out. OK. Enough Trump World for a while. I feel like left wing Alex Jones so I should probably do something mindless for a few hours.
