Definitely a cool idea. I think it's just the beginning of a potentially great project. Imagine if the instrument was even more 'spatialized' with the string crossing several rooms or stories. There is already such a propensity for sectional movement during one strum to really cut through space. And what about tuning or frets? What if a person in the building across the street adjusted notes and you strummed, string stretching over the road connecting the buildings, communicating with each other through feeling and sound.
I'm immediately reminded of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's video where John Frusciante and Flea are each playing string instruments similar to this. Acutally, Flea's instrument is the power lines between two electric poles.
