There are places at my plant that could work but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks, me too :)

I had a good run with over twenty years with no accidents or tickets!

I consider eloping one of the smartest things we have ever done.

A lady ran a red light and totaled my car.

The car was a 2010 KIA with 80k miles, it has been a great car as far as maintenance goes, brakes, oil, batteries and tires and nothing else for 15 years. I'll miss its consistency.

We got $5,400 out of insurance, which is more than I thought we would. I'll probably buy a similar Kia as a replacement cause most the other reliable cars are significantly more expensive.

The witnesses to the accident said that it looked like a real hard hit but it didn't seem that bad from the cockpit. My airbag didn't deploy and it should have but I'm glad it didn't.

I've been listening to a lot No Wave inspired music.

I know so many huge music fans that love the band but they leave me cold everytime. I listen to a full album once a year to see if I can get the hang of them but it never hits.

I do love the original version.

You have a band like that?

Honda has some amazing engineers and quality control systems.

The city I work for picks the lowest bid for almost everything but mission critical systems use Honda pumps, motors and generators. Honda parts are almost the only thing that they'll spring significant extra money for.

I think they would bring an entirely different set of values and decades of institutional experience that we don't see in companies like space X.

I was really thinking about Lyndon LaRouche.

Your average politician would pass on any niche policy position to keep LaRouche Douche crew away from their campaign. I think LaRouche's advocacy probably put high speed rail back decades.

If I wasn't blocked by Devac I'd tell him that there is nothing consistent about U.S. commuter trains. Some places have pretty well run subway systems, some places have decrepit train systems that are poorly laid out, some places have no trains at all. Generally if you buy a train ticket you can use it to ride the busses.

Trains from one major city to another are slow and generally old. Tickets aren't cheap but they are less than air fair. There are a few high speed rail lines being developed on both coasts but it'll probably be years until they are up and running if they ever get off the ground.

Generally the people pushing hardest for better rail are also kooky weirdos in the non rail aspects of their politics, it's just a strange aspect of U.S. politics.

The U.S. rail system is primarily dedicated to moving freight and moving people is an after thought.

My own city has a few train lines. They all pass through downtown and their branches go to the airport, the main sporting venue, and extend out into the suburbs to bring commuters in and out of the city. There is a good chance that any long commuter journey will involve transferring to a bus at some point. I like the bus system but it isn't universally loved.

My city has a train that crosses downtown as well. During heavy traffic I can usually walk faster than it can travel. I seen a few trains like this one in different cities that are essentially useless if you aren't a tourist or unable to walk.

I lived in Boston which had a very useful subway system. It wasn't super modern but it was faster than walking or taking the bus, it ran frequently and was generally safe and clean.

I'm from Detroit, where they had an elevated rail system that could take you in a big useless circle around a very few cultural attractions but was generally considered too dangerous and dirty to mess with. I hear it's gotten better in recent times.

Guess I've been listening to a bunch of early Memphis hip hop.

I end up walking anywhere from 8k to 15k steps a shift, i really enjoy it. One of the positions can require over 800 steps if it's busy. I don't love the steps if anything is sore but if I'm feeling well it's fine.

I'm handling C shift just fine. I come I'm at 10:30 PM and leave at 7:15 AM. I go home, get the kid up and out the door for school eat some breakfast and sleep until 3 PM or so getting up right before the kid gets home. I didn't think I'd find it this easy.

cgod  ·  85 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: How to load a dishwasher

Lol, I have a twenty year old dishwasher that gets the dishes clean 99.9% of the time. It's dead simple and easy to work on. We are probably going to replace it because the plastic face of the control panel is crumbling apart and the old plastics are getting to be a strange shade of pale dirty death. I'm convinced that msotbthe money spent on high end dishwasher is 95% cosmetic.

I will say that Technology Connections video on dishwashers improved my dishwashing game. We have soft water and pods left a sickening residue smell that only I noticed but I also drink more plain water from glasses than the rest of the household. Using powder and a rinse aid got rid of that smell.
