- A surprise strong showing by a new anti-corruption party in India has helped to topple the ruling Congress party in Delhi assembly elections.
- His party now controls nearly 40% of the Delhi assembly seats.
I love the idea of a party centered around stopping corruption in politics. There are few things that get me hopeful and fired up about politics and government, but this definitely does. I think this is really cool.
I wonder what's Aam Aadmi Party's/Arvind Kejriwal's take on issues other than corruption and clean democracy. The question to ask is will they be as effective in other issues as the experienced politicians? Personally, sometimes their agendas seem so shallow. I guess it's just wait and watch. When the time is ripe we shall know, even I'm thrilled.
They have certainly impacted the politics of the state. It is well known that they resulted in the change of Chief Minister candidate in the other opposition party (Dr. Harshwardhan, who has a more clean image became the CM candidate as against the heavy-weight and party favorite Vijay Goel). They are also changing the rules of the game by refusing to support any other party and willing to sit as opposition instead of trying to scamper for power. Hope this starts a new era in Indian politics.
