Credit card processing companies should be terrified of this. Aggregators like PayPal and Square are fundamentally changing the industry.

Paypal is probably less consumer-friendly then even the credit card companies. The processors might be worried, but the issuing banks don't have much risk yet.

That's what I mean, I don't think the issuers should be nervous. That said, many banks will leverage processing as part of their entire "package" with a merchant. They will give away a loan at a very aggressive rate but squeeze them on their processing fees or vice versa. It will take a bargaining component away from them.

The individual processing companies should be worried though. Their days are numbered IMO.
