Ah, witch hunts; the bread and butter of the internet. I wonder if we'll see more of this as authors become more available to their audience through social media. I know online reviews aren't exactly loved by authors, especially since one-third of them seem to be fake, but it seems like some people need some PR training.
I think that all the internet activism, witch hunts, and vigilante actions (doxxing, etc) come from the same basic desire for justice; to see wrongs righted and such. That wrong can be something like SOPA/PIPA, a bad review for a loved author, or something as simple as acting outside the culture norm of niche groups. I try not to follow a lot of internet drama, but they are kinda like reality tv for the internet. You can try subredditdrama on reddit for a daily stream of internet drama, from petty fights to things that get national media attention.
