Pretty much, given that they're not actually changing anything and just hoping that

    Boston will also be where reddit learns to be sensitive of its own power.

it's pretty clear that Reddit only enacts changes or really responds at all when there is a lot of negative press. and, even then, they only do the bare minimum to appease the public.

for example, consider past controversies (violentacrez, creepshots, jailbait, etc.). specific users and subreddits will be banned and closed, but no attempt is made to make the site at large a more decent place. I wouldn't be surprised if substitutes for the subreddits I just mentioned have popped up without much response, if any, from Reddit admins.
