I'll check out Merlin. There are a few birds I see at work that I can't identify and I'd like to know what they are. I often see Blue Herons at work but I naturalist say there are fewer of then around than there used to be. Crazy thing is that it's not men that are killing off the Herons, it's Bald Eagles. Bald Eagles kill Heron chicks in their nest. I often see Bald Eagles at work, never as close up as Herons. I got within about 5 ft of a sleeping Heron at work one night, I didn't notice him until he took off and I guess he didn't see me untill I was almost upon him as he slept.
